Wow that is fun!!
Sounds like everything is the same. This week was fun!!
Tuesday- was just a normal missionary day. we had a lesson with jake and taught him the law of Chastity. it went way well!! he understood it all by the end. it wasnt too awkward. its only awkward if you make it awkward ;) but i quoted bishop hodson in the no go zones hahaha it was so helpful when jake asked us to sum it up in easier words. That night we cleaned. we had clean checks on wednesday, but mom.... you would be so proud of me. I even cleaned the baseboards. The couple was so proud of us and how good it looked :)
Wednesday- we oh wait.. this is when we met with jake. Tuesday he was way late and so we had to tell him we couldnt wait any longer. it has helped him be on time or more on time :/ but after that we had to run back and make sure everything was spotless and we passed clean checks :) and after that we had to run to the rasmussen's to meet up with sis rasmussen and Elder Seacy and Elder Stout (the other missionaries serving in our ward) But we went to Asda (the british Walmart) and went Christmas shopping for the missionaries that wouldnt be getting a Christmas package from home. It was a blast. then we went back and wrapped them all and started on the Christmas goodie bags for the whole mission (thats just under 300 missionaries) we had to run to the relief society Christmas dinner but finished it all the next day.
Thursday- we had District meeting and lunch and elder gray (the mission secretary) called and said they had service for us to do in the office. so after studies we went to the office and then went to lunch and then had district meeting (all at the Chapel next to the mission office) and then went straight over the the Rasmussen's to finish all the preparations. We didnt do much real missionary work this week haha but we have done a load of service for the entire mission. But The assistants and president and his wife all had the First Christmas Zone Conference in Whales the next day so we went out and had dinner and went by some people and then went in for the day. It was a blast. I am really getting to know The assistants, Elder harris and Higham, The Elders (seacy and stout, of and elder stout will go home a transfer before me so we will be friends :)) and President and Sister Rasmussen. I love this area.
Friday- We did weekly planning in the morning and then went to the office to wait for the sister training leaders. I got your package that morning.. Thanks :)
So I went on my first exchange!! I stayed in our area and I was scared. but I now know that I can get around just fine! I have grown up!!! No but it was great. sister Mulman (another german) came and for some reason she couldnt get any words out and I had to do all the talking, or most of it. but it was a great learning experience. I really can talk to random people with out sister leiss starting the converstation!! I really can plan for a lesson and have the spirit with out following some one else's plan and letting them do all the talking!! I can take the bus places and figure out how to use the map!! I feel all grown up!! haha but it was great. I also got a member set up to let us teach jake at their house the next day. and another member offered to let us do a FHE at their house with Jake if needed. We have been praying for opportunities like this. and they all came and helped me learn that I am a really missionary haha. But That night I had to call E. seacy and stout to give them the pie crust recipe and we chatted a bit, they are a blast! while I was on the phone with them the zone leaders called and the district leader called, They were on hold for a while haha but it was fun. I really know how to use the phone and the map and the busses and yeah haha. But it was great!
Saturday- we helped a member put up her Christmas tree and then ran off to an appointment. then went tracting. while we were out tracting jake texted us saying he couldnt make the lesson later that day. I wasnt okay with that and told him how we got member to take time out of their day to meet with him and how we would feel so bad, and you know what. we had a lesson that night! ha! you cant cancel on me! jkjkjk no but it shows that persistance is important!!
it all went well and we taught him about the temple and family history.
that night we were finishing weekly planning and I had to call a potential to see if she would come to church, Eileen, She is a single mom and just so sweet!! so I called and she said it had been a long day..... to keep the story short after we talked she sent a text saying I had made her day and brought a smile to her face. It was so sweet!! and we might meet with her this week to help her clean!! we are praying it actually happens!
but Sunday- we woke up to a cancel text from jake. He didnt sleep well and didnt want to be a zombie at church. I wasnt to impressed with his excuse. but what ever. He came to a baptism that night and is still game for getting baptized himself!! it was a great week and tonight we get to go help Sis Rasmussen again!! so I'll write you next week
Love,
Sister Ashley MacKay
