Gloucester!! (Her new area!) That is where most of our family history is from on the group sheet you sent with me! Super cool. But, first, this past week!
Monday- We decided we were going to do something fun. SO we put on our p-day clothes and went for a bike ride to Sutton. We went charity shop finding and I found some really cute summer shoes for 4 pounds. That is a steal!! I also found a throw blanket like the one you have in the front room, but its green! And I found a British edition of the 3rd Harry Potter book super cheap. That is in my suitcase until I get home haha. I was so excited. But Sister Sorensen had problems with her stomach so we ended up staying in for the night. oh well.
Tuesday- We got a new investigator named Mary before we had zone meeting, It was a great excuse for being a bit late. Random fact - we have President Packer's grandson in our mission and last transfer he was in my zone. He is a really cool guy. Looks a bit like his grandpa. He's really nice, humble, obedient and a down-to-earth guy. He gave some great training at zone meeting along with all the other district leaders.
Wednesday- We had flat checks and that was good. Passed again!! We visited Jose that day. Then we had a DA with Keri. She is an awesome lady and she was sad to hear that I was leaving. We ended up tracting the street of one of the ladies we met during the week of miracles and she told us a better time to stop by. It looks really promising with her and her family! As we were tracting her street there was this nice older gentleman that we chatted with. He was fun, but Sister Sorensen and I were hit on by a rich old British guy. We were laughing hard about that. It was funny. :)
Thursday- We had another lesson with Mary. It went well and we invited her to church. She didn't say yes, but she didn't say no. In the end she didn't come. :/ We went into Castle Vale and did some work there. It was good. We ran into a lady that looked like a rainbow. She was wearing every color possible. Then we had dinner with the office couple, the Pages. I always love being with them. They had the best dessert ever. Eclairs are so much better here! Oh we also taught Jake that day and really asked him what it would take for him to be ready to get baptized. Now Sister Sorensen has something to work with. It really helped. We had been meeting Jake on this grassy park since the weather has been amazing! We talked to Jose that night and she told us that she has been smoking recently. It was hard to hear. We had taught her about honesty, hoping that she would tell us the truth and it worked! She felt really bad and she is trying again! So things are going well there.
Friday- We met with Sue and had a good lesson with her. She was really sweet, knowing that it would be my last time meeting with her. Then we helped with the New Trainers meeting and that was fun. I got to meet a lot of new elders I had never seen before. It was a blast that day! My first district leader Elder Houghton had his departing interview, and while his comp was at the lunch we were helping at, and his comp said "you're THE Sister MacKay. I've heard a lot about you. Elder Houghton wants to see you before we leave!!" Its funny being in that situation. I didn't get a chance to see him Friday since we had a lesson with another person we found during the week of miracles. We really thought she wasn't going to show up, but she did. She is a solid investigator now! It was awesome!
Saturday- We did weekly planning and had a lesson with Jake. He got Sister Sorensen a birthday present and me a goodbye present. Then I started packing and I hate packing.............. hate it!
Sunday- I had to give my testimony. I still have a quiet voice when I have to talk, but I didn't look down and they didn't have to move the mic down to hear me. I was happy with the improvement I have made. This Sunday, I will probably have to give it again in the new ward, so we will see how that goes. I said goodbyes to people in the ward and then went home to have lunch. Later on we helped Sister Rasmussen until 10. I got to see my First district leader off. That was fun. I was so pooped that I went home and fell asleep.
Monday- I finished packing and left my first area for a long time, but made some great friends along the way. So I am serving in Gloucester with Sister Melville, my roommate from the MTC and we are excited to get the area up and going. Today we are going to Gadfield Elm where a bunch of the first members of the church in England were baptized by Wilford Woodruff, I think. Do we have any ancestors that were baptized there?
