It was so good to see you all yesterday (Ashley had permission to skype with us for British Mother's Day), but to be honest, it felt a bit too soon. It feels about right that American Mother's Day is almost halfway through the year. But, I enjoyed it. You guys told me nothing about what had been happening back home, and then I got to read about it all today. I love the people here and I am grateful for all the food they feed us, but I also love American food. The American family (where they skyped from) got us pancake mix, syrup and Reese peanut butter eggs to eat. I have been very happy. I also made the soup I told you I was going to make and it turned out yummy - even better than before. It reminds me of Panera Bread chicken noodle soup. I will make it for you soon after I get home.
So this week we went to this air museum in Newark. On our way home, we talked with a person right after we prayed, and walked with her and had a lesson and got a return appointment and I loved it. It was so good. She thinks ahead and was worried about things. We were able to ease her mind about them from the very beginning. She wasn't able to see us at the time we set up to see her, but she told us beforehand and set up another time. So we will see her tomorrow. Pray it goes well. She will be hard, but in a good way. Once we get her to feel the Spirit, she will be converted and follow through on any commitment we will give her. (She must have called while they were emailing) Well...... she just cancelled and said she isn't interested anymore... mission life is tough some times haha :/
Well, this week we did a lot of finding. All our appointments fell through, but all but one told us beforehand, so that was nice of them. While we were out, we got to see the power of back-up plans, and in many instances, we got to see small miracles.
For example, we went to see a recent convert who had been baptized just a few days before. After talking to him (while we tried to find a less active who lived in the same area), we talked to this young mom. At first we started just asking her where this place was, but, as every good missionary knows, we took the opportunity to share the gospel and it was perfect. She has a little family and she is now a new investigator. She has a new 5 week old baby girl and a cute little red head 3 year old who is a character. I loved it and we will also see her tomorrow. Pray that goes well, too, please!!
We also, after stopping by a potential the elders gave us, talked to one lady who was walking her dog. It was an awesome conversation and she is really interested. She was asking us so many questions and actually listening, so that was fun!! We are also seeing her tomorrow.
Also, one day we went to stop by the elders' investigator, Val, and she wasn't home, so we looked at our map and saw there were a few members, active and less, so we tried to stop by. One was a recent convert of a few months and so we tried calling him. No answer, but a few minutes later we got a call from a different number and it was him. It was his first day back in Lincoln for awhile and so we got to meet up with him. While we were talking to him, (by the way, he is an awesome person and the change that has occurred in his life because of the gospel is amazing), one of our investigators showed up at the cafe we were at, and it was a funny situation. I don't think our investigator Martin realized that we met with other people! It was all good. We are seeing him tomorrow too!! We are going to try to put him on a date. Pray that goes well.
We saw the hand of the Lord in our lives many times and I am so thankful for it all. No news on Michael, but we fasted for him yesterday. Just working to make sure I can give it my all these next 7 weeks.
Miracles happen as you put the Lord first. Always remember that. I am so thankful for the little lessons I learn each and every day.
I love you all!!
